Resident Corner

Resident Spotlight

Thanks to Peter, a resident of Quaker Meadows, who got the fun started in the dunk tank at the Labor Day BBQ. It was such a fun event and he was brave enough to kick it off.

“Life Sometimes”

Poem by Debbie Stone, resident of Quaker Meadows

In life we take many things for granted,
We get back what we have planted.
When you reap what you sow,
You will learn then to grow.
Make the best each and every day,
Be grateful when you think and pray.
Have love and compassion for one another,
Treat all as if they are your brother.
Pay attention to each other's heart,
Someday we will all have to part.
Look for the best in whoever you see,
That's the way it should be.
Spread kindness and care in all you do,
Don't make each other sad and blue.
There's to little of that going around,
Stand firm and solid on your ground.
Put a smile on your face,
On someone's heart it will leave a trace.

Manager's Notes

Reminder: The Donna DeLauri Media Room at 65 Memorial Park Avenue is available by making a reservation with Ana during office hours. There is a computer, a printer, a TV, DVD player, and play station. Please remember that when using the room, you are responsible for following the rules of the media room and will be held accountable. We want to keep it a welcoming place for the residents to use.

One Call Service: We have implemented the one call service to all residents. This has allowed us to have a message sent to your phone with important updates, inspections notices, and the need to come to your apartment, etc. This will eliminate the need to have paper notices delivered to all residents. If you change your phone number, PLEASE let the office know so we can update our system. You do not want to miss an important message from the office.

Change in income: Please notify the office within 14 days of any income changes in your household. This will allow us to make the necessary change and allow us to give you a 30-day notice of the rental change.

The annual satisfaction survey has been mailed to all residents. Please take a few minutes to complete it and return it. We appreciate your input.

Maintenance Notes

Welcome Mats: we have noticed some of you still have welcome mats at your apartment doors. This is not allowed by the Lynn Fire Department as well as it is is outlined in the rules and regulations. It is a tripping hazard. Please take your mats inside. Thank you.

Maintenance Requests: Please call the office with any work orders needed in your apartment before we start the annual inspections in November. This will be very helpful if we could address it before the inspection. Thank you for your cooperation.

Seasonal Tips

Winter Safety Tips: Winter safety is crucial for both personal well-being and property protection. Here are some winter safety tips to remember.

  • Check thermostats: Winter is coming and the heat is on. If you are having issues with your thermostat, please call the office. We want everyone to stay warm this winter season.

Heating Safety: Keep flammable materials away from heaters and never leave them unattended.

Emergency Supplies: Prepare an emergency kit that includes blankets, flashlights, batteries, non-perishable food, bottled water, and a first-aid kit. Store it in an easily accessible location in case of power outages or emergencies.

Candle Safety: If you use candles, never leave them unattended, and place them on stable surfaces away from flammable materials.

Winter Clothing: Dress warmly when going outside in cold weather. Wear layers, a winter coat, gloves, a hat, and waterproof boots to stay dry and warm.

Emergency Contacts: Keep a list of important emergency contacts. Be sure that you update the management office with your current phone number and email address, as well as your emergency contacts.

Crack Your Windows: In the winter months please be sure to vent your apartment by cracking a window to let cool air in as the new windows are very air tight and changing the air in the apartment will keep the air flowing.

  • Winter Tires: Consider installing winter tires with proper tread depth for better traction on snow and ice.

Slow Down: Reduce your speed and increase following distance to account for slippery roads.

Brake Gently: Apply brakes gently to avoid skidding. If your vehicle has anti-lock brakes (ABS), apply steady pressure.

Clear Snow: Before driving, remove all snow and ice from your vehicle, including windows, mirrors, lights, and the roof.

Stay Informed: Check weather and road conditions before heading out, and consider delaying travel during severe winter storms.

Emergency Kit: Carry an emergency kit in your vehicle, including items like a flashlight, blanket, extra clothing, non-perishable food, and a cell phone charger.

  • Walk Carefully: Take shorter steps and walk slowly to maintain balance on icy or snowy sidewalks and pathways.

Footwear: Wear shoes or boots with good traction and non-slip soles. Consider adding ice cleats for additional grip.

Handrails: Always use handrails when available, especially when navigating stairs or ramps.
